Hi Everyone!
My name is Bill Harris. I am a surfer from the wonderful community of Santa Cruz, CA. Over the past few years I have been traveling as much as possible gaining beautiful experiences and meeting epic people from all walks of life. My newest journey is going to take me through Central America where I will live with a family in the small community of Gigante in Nicaragua. I am currently raising money for the program I will be participating in. It is a great project centered around what is referred to as voluntourism. I will get to actually immerse myself in a new culture while helping with various community projects that prides itself on education initiatives in the local community.
I am stoked to be working with Project WOO due to the fact that it allows participants the ability to travel and make a difference at the same time. Their approach to sustainable community projects is something that I am excited about being involved with. I am looking forward to learning from members of the community as well as directors of the program. I am passionate about organic agriculture and the benefit of growing food in a sustainable way. One of the many projects going on at Project WOO is getting youth involved in community gardening and this is a part of the project I am particularly excited about.
I heard about Project WOO while doing volunteer work on an organic farm in Santa Cruz, CA. Once I heard about what the guys had going on I immediately went to their website and starting doing research. Once I saw their goals and all the progress being made I knew this was something I needed to be a part of. I went to a fundraising event they had at a local restaurant in town and was introduced to Nick. After talking with him, I went home and filled out my application. Please help however possible and donate below to a project that is focused on making a grassroots difference!!
