GIGANTE SURF PROGRAM

With the generous support of FireWire surfboards, FCS, Headhunter, and a group of volunteers on an unorthodox bachelor party, Project WOO launched this September 2010 a new surf program for the kids in Gigante, Nicaragua.

Surfboards among the local kids in Gigante are few and far between.  Project WOO, in partnership with Kassidy at Dale Dagger Surf Tours, aim to change that with not only getting kids in the water, but also keeping them in school and maintaining the local community.  Those kids who attend the weekly trash pickup event and have good school attendance have access to a sweet quiver of boards, including 10 top of the line FireWire surfboards!

If you would like to inquire about donating a board, contact Project WOO here.

Project WOO would like to recognize the following companies and people for making this program happen:

Kassidy Mefford and Dale Dagger Surf Tours - Program management and coordination

FireWire Surfboards - donation of 10 brand new surfboards

FCS - donation of fins and leashes

Headhunter Sunscreen - donation of sunscreen

Bill and Justin Spina, Chuck Hawkins, and Craig King - board donations!

Marty Driscoll, Dave Driscoll, Max Klinger, Mike Mkindo, Paul Christy, Justin Spina, Bill Spina, Chuck Hawkins, Craig King, and  Shaun Schmidt for delivering the surfboards and launching the program with water safety instruction and surf lessons!

And many many others who have donated their time, boards, and other gear since this programs launch to make it a reality!
